Privacy Statement

Updated October 14, 2026

This Privacy Statement explains what personal information The Cook Nests ("we," "our," "us") collects through https://thecooknests.com (the "Site"), how we use and disclose it, and the choices and rights you have, including under US state privacy laws.

1. Personal information we collect

When you email us

We receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message.

When you request a starter plan

Our starter plan form collects your first name and email address (required); your phone number (optional); who you cook for, your eating preferences, your cooking experience and the skills you select; any notes you choose to add, such as allergies, dislikes or details about your kitchen; the date and time of your request; and your confirmation that you are at least 18 and agree to our use of these details.

We use this information solely to prepare and email your plan and to answer follow-up questions. It is not used for marketing, not added to any mailing list, not sold, and not shared for targeted advertising. Each submission is sent to our team's inbox, and a copy is retained in a protected server directory that the public cannot access. Allergy or health details in your notes are provided at your discretion and used only to adjust your plan.

Collected automatically

Our web host keeps routine server logs — for example, IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and timestamps — to keep the Site secure and working. If we turn on analytics or advertising, those services may also collect device identifiers, browsing activity on the Site and approximate location using cookies or similar tools.

Recipe scaler

The recipe scaler works entirely within your browser. We do not receive or keep anything you paste into it.

2. How we use personal information

3. Google advertising and analytics

The Site may use Google Analytics, Google AdSense and Google Ads.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. More detail is in our Cookie Notice.

4. How we disclose personal information

We disclose personal information to vendors that help us run the Site, such as hosting and email providers, who must safeguard it. If analytics or advertising are enabled, cookie data may be disclosed to those providers. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect our rights, our users or the public.

We have never sold personal information for money. Some state laws, however, may consider advertising cookies a "sale" of personal information or "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out at any time, as explained below.

5. How long we keep it

Starter plan requests and emails are deleted after no more than 12 months, or sooner if you ask, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Server logs follow our host's retention schedule; analytics and advertising data follow each provider's settings.

6. Privacy rights for US residents

If you live in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law — such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon or others — you may have rights to:

Making a request: email [email protected] with "Privacy rights request" in the subject line and describe your request. To verify it, we'll confirm it with the email address linked to your information. An authorized agent may submit a request for you where state law allows. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject line, and we'll respond within the period the law requires.

Opting out: use our Your Privacy Choices page. We recognize Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out.

California Shine the Light: we don't disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

7. Children

The Site is meant for adults and isn't directed to children under 13. Consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Only people 18 or older may request a starter plan. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.

8. Security

The Site uses HTTPS, and starter plan requests are kept in a protected directory. While no system is perfectly secure, we use reasonable safeguards to protect your information.

9. Do Not Track signals

Because there's no agreed standard for browser "Do Not Track" signals, we don't respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control, as described above.

10. Updates

We may revise this Privacy Statement. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we'll post a notice on the Site for significant changes.

11. How to reach us

Email [email protected] with any privacy questions.
